Alvin Jones

September 18, 1926 — July 17, 2018

Alvin Jones departed this life on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his residence at the age of 91.  He was a native of Boothville, LA and a resident of Algiers, LA.  Alvin was a retired employee of Brown and Root Shipyard where he worked as a welder.  He served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army, and was awarded the Victory Medal.  Loving husband of Bernice F. Jones.  Devoted father of Dale Jones, Trudy Darby, Jeanne Jones Scipio, Jerry Jones, and the late Judy J. Denet.  Son of the late Richard Jones and Alexandrine Mackey Jones.  Brother of Richard Jones, Lois Tate, and the late Clifford Jones, Earl Jones, Albert Jones, Mazie Duncan, Mary Brickley, Lavinia Franklin, and Irma Powell; also survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 1:00p.m.  Visitation will begin at 11:00a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
