Gertie Bluain Robert

Gertie Bluain Robert, age 95, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at her residence. She was a native of St. James Parish, LA and a longtime resident of Marrero and Harvey, LA.  Gertie retired from Ochsner Medical Center after many years of service as a Nurse’s Assistant. Mother, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, loved to bake, solve word puzzles, and was an avid reader.  Beloved wife of the late William Robert, Sr.  Loving mother of Emile Bluain, Jr., Irvin Robert, Sr., Edward Robert, Augustine Sumner, and Odessa Mayho Joseph.  Daughter of the late Emile Bluain, Sr. and Augustine Tate Bluain.  Sister of the late Lloyd Bluain, Sr., Mary Sumner and Evelina Bluain.  Gertie is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 45 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other, relatives and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Zion Baptist Church, Greater St. Mary Baptist Church (Algiers, LA), Rock of Ages Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 6533 Acre Rd.
