Ernest John Barthelomew

Ernest “Paw-Paw” John Barthelomew passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the age of 82. He was a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Ernest served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed by Ford Motor Company for almost 30 years. Loving husband of the late Nellie M. K. Barthelomew for over 58 years.   Devoted father of Brian, Vincent, and Sheri Barthelomew and Andrea Veal. Grandfather of the late Vincent Barthelomew, Jr. Son of the late John and Edith Barthelomew. Brother of Matthew Barthelomew, Loise B. Dumas, Melba Barthelomew, Mary Ann B. Love, Judith B. Jackson, Connie D. Johnson, and the late Arthur and PFC Dave Barthelomew. Father in law of the late Norman P. Veal, also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish Street Dept., Nissan Collision Center, Archdioceses of New Orleans, and Bridgepoint Healthcare/East Jefferson Hospital; members of Knights of Peter Claver Court and Council # 36 are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:00a.m.  Father Eugene Jacques, Celebrant, SSE Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m.; Recitation of Rosary 8:30a.m.; Celebration of Life 9:15a.m. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
