Joseph Walker III

August 5, 1953 — October 31, 2018

Bishop Joseph Walker, III, was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the age of 65. He was a native of Marrero, LA (Walkertown Community), and a resident of McKinney, TX.  Bishop Walker served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Bishop Walker later furthered his studies at Union Baptist Theological Seminary and Greater St. Stephens Bible College.  He was employed as an educator with the Jefferson and Orleans Parish Public School Systems, until his retirement in 2012.  Answering a higher calling on his life, in 1984 he became a licensed minister and was ordained two years later. Bishop Walker was called by God to preach the gospel for over 30 years.  He pastored several churches before establishing his own church Potter’s Wheel Family Life Center on February 14, 2010, where he served faithfully.  Beloved husband of 35 years to Evangelist Ruby T. Walker.  Devoted father of Joseph (Brandi) Walker, IV, India Walker (Shawn) Morris and Egypt Walker.  Loving grandfather of Joseph, V, Shawnna, Sean Joseph, Reilly, Masyn, Kayden, Harlea, and Jax.  Son of the late Rev. Joseph Walker, Jr. and Doris Walker.  Brother of Dwight (Rhonda) Walker, Brian Keith (Angel) Walker, Sharon Walker, Terri (Harold) Lewis, Varron Joseph, and Regina Scott.  Son-in-law of the late Rev. Isaac, Sr. and Harriet Tinson.  Brother-in-law of Rufus Tinson, Donald Anderson, and the late Loretta Anderson, Susie Tinson, Isaac Tinson, Jr, and Joseph Dan Tinson.  Devoted friend of Louis Favorite, Jr., Bilal McGlothan, Hilton Jacob, and Kermit Scott; also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Stephen Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Ave., New Orleans, LA on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Norman N.
