John L. Carter, Sr., was called from earth to glory on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Touro Infirmary Hospital at the age of 82. He was a native of Magnolia MS, and a resident of Westwego, LA.
John was a retired owner of Carter’s Television and Appliance Repair, driver for Customs Bus Service and also a volunteer at Magnolia State School in Jefferson, LA. He was a highly respected business man in his community and in the Greater New Orleans Area.
Beloved husband of Deandria Carter by second marriage and the late Rosella Davis Carter first marriage. Devoted father of John L. (Vanessa) Carter, Jr., Lintrell Carter, Reginald (April) Carter, Wayne (Shawanda) Carter, Loraine (Henry) Carter, Cynthia Carter (Herman) LeJeune, and the late Catricia Carter. Grandfather of Carlisia Williams, John Anthony Downs, John L Carter, III, Justin L. Carter, Jason Carter, CalBriell Williams, Calvin Williams, Jr., Lendell Harrison, Jr., LeDonte Carter, Jada Carter, Reginald Carter, Jr., Preshay Thomas, Wayne Carter, Jr., Juan Carter, Rosella Carter, Xavier LeJeune, Piaget LeJeune, London LeJeune, and the late Brandon Carter. Great grandfather of Ja’nyiah Robertson, Craig Kemp, Jr., Diamond Carter, Sophia Rose Carter, Peyton Downs, John L. Carter, IV, and Cali M. Thomas. Foster father of Albert Nicolosi. Son of the late Henderson and Estella Norman Carter. Brother of the late Jay Lee Carter, James Carter, Willie Carter, Henderson Carter, Jr., and Mary Green. Brother in law of the late Carrie Carter, Betty Carter, Willie Lee Green, and J. Y. Lenoir, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of True Vine Baptist Church, Sherman Missionary Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at True Vine Baptist Church 249 Sala Ave. Westwego, LA on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 9:00a.m.
