Ricardo Edward Brooks, an Army Veteran known to his family and friends as “Ricky”, passed away in Austin, TX on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the age of 53 years. He was a native of New Orleans, LA. He moved to Austin, TX in the late 1990’s, then later settled in San Antonio, TX where he would spend the rest of his years. “Ricky” founded Eddine Foods and Father’s Creole Seasonings, a spice and food business focused on bringing the taste of New Orleans into kitchens all over the world. His knack for creating, developing and refining the array of desserts, spices, and creole recipes of his personal cookbook were rooted in God’s divine inspiration and from his childhood years living in and around the great cooks of New Orleans. Husband of the late Sonia Jacobs Brooks. Son of the late Edward Brook, Jr. and Geraldine Johnson Brooks. Brother of Nikkita Y. Johnson, Danielle S. Brooks, Kaedra Y. Brooks, Diane Brooks-Scott, Carol Brooks, Marceline Brooks, Gregory David Brooks, Mark Steven Smith, and the late Andre’ Pierre Brooks. Brother in law of Jennifer Brooks, Charlotte Smith and Trina Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins, who share fond memories of his life on this earth. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St., Gretna, LA on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
Viewing of remains will begin at 8:30a.m. at the parlor .
Interment: McDonoghville Cemetery Gretna, LA.
