Celeste “Madea” Scott Jefferson walked into the Pearly Gates of Heaven on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the blessed age of 87. She was a native of Ferriday, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Celeste was a retired nurse from People’s Home Health. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Jefferson, Sr. Loving mother of Douglas Jefferson, and the late Rosalie Scott, Julie Jefferson, Celeste Jackson, and Mollie McElveen. Great Grandmother of the late Danielle and Edward Jefferson. Daughter of the late Evans and Margaret Scott. Sister of Farrell Scott and the late Pauline Scott, Rosalie Hoskins, Roxanne Scott, Marguerite Knoten, Vina Smith, Evans, Leamon, Sr. Elijah, and Roosevelt Scott, Sr. Mother-in-law of Kenneth Jackson and Larry McElveen, Sr. Sister-in-law of Louberta Scott, Carrie Scott, Barbara Scott, Gloria Jefferson, and the late Ruby Scott, Herman Smith, Walter Hoskins, and Clarence Knoten. Celeste is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members, of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Israel Baptist Church, True Vie Baptist Church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, and New Home Ministries are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1701 Estalote St. Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Ricky Johnson, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
