Willie Mae Brocks

May 4, 1945 — January 7, 2019

Mrs. Willie Mae Woodard Brocks was born on May 4, 1945 to the late Mr. Curtis and Mrs. Laura Woodard in Ruleville, Mississippi.   She later moved to the New Orleans area and resided in Marrero for over 40 years.  Sis.  Brocks accepted Christ as her Personal Savior and in November, 2011 she united with the New Hope Baptist Church family under the leadership of Rev. John C. Raphael, Jr.  She loved her church and would always come prior to the start of Worship dressed from her head, with lovely hats, to her toe, with matching shoes.  Sis. Brocks was the former  wife of Mr. Nathan Brocks and was the loving mother of Evans “Tim”, Lavern and Joseph Brocks, Terry Isidore (Grid) and Ashely Banks (Joe), and D’juan O’Neal.  Cooking was Sis. Brocks’ passion and she began her career as a chef with the Marriott Corporation.   Her delight in this field  was evident by her work at English Turn Country Club where she continued until her very last breath.  She was one of the most loved cooks at English Turn.  Sis. Brocks had a quiet demeanor yet a large heart. Whenever she was called upon to serve in her profession here at New Hope, she did enthusiastically and efficiently, always dressing in her chef attire.  Sis. Brocks also had a great love for the New Orleans Saints, considering herself their biggest fan.  Mrs. Willie Mae will definitely be missed by her family and friends. On Monday, January 7, 2019, Sis. Willie Mae Brocks went home to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children; her devoted daughter-in-law Demetris Pickens; her siblings, Earnest, Leroy, Johnny, Nathaniel, John L., Robert and Shirley Woodard, Freddie Starnes, Hattie Dennis, Dorothy Powell and Diane Coleman; 12 grandchildren, Sierra, Trevon, Jane, Robert, Mannie, Ashley, Sheldrika, Elleese, Rashaad Grid Jr., Terrion and Brian; 5 great grandchildren; her devoted friend, Katie Willis and other relatives and friends.
