Joseph Jessie, Sr.

Joseph Jessie, Sr. entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the age of 76.  He was a native and resident of Marrero, LA.  Joseph was a graduate of Lincoln High School and a retired foreman of the Jefferson Parish Sewerage Department.  Beloved husband of the late Lillian Tillman Jessie.  Loving father of Joseph Jessie, Jr., Joelle M. Jessie (Joseph), John C. Jessie (Kiesha), Julian C. Jessie (Leslie). Grandfather of LaJon, JonBre’al, Jo’Quelle Ju’Niya, Ju’Myree, Chloe, Julian, Jr., and Marva.  Great grandfather of Alvin Boudy, Jr. Son of the late John C. Jessie and Eva Lewis Jessie.  Brother of the late Emma Lee Jessie Walker (late Wilbert). Nephew of the late Isabel Black and Roosevelt Jessie, Sr.  Devoted uncle of Connie Walker (Gregory) Wilson, Sr., Cheryl Walker, Wilbert Walker, Jr., Gregory (Lynette) Wilson, Jr., Lataria Wilson (Darnel) Thompson, Cory Hunt, James (Jon’Quel) Tillman III, Kedric (Iesha) Riggins, Dayshawn Walker, JeDarius Walker, and Wilbert Walker III.  Special cousin of Elder Harry (Betty) Jessie.  Son-in-law of the late Rosalie Dorsey Common, Charles Common, Jr. and James Tillman, Jr.  Brother-in-law of James (Diane) Tillman, Jr. Don Jones, Ernest Jones, Karen (Isaac) Knightshead, Lisa (Ben) McMillan, Sharon (Richard) Pipkins, Carla (Glynn) Brooks, Ramona Trufant, Adweinea Shelley, and  the late Charles Common III, Orinetta Gaines Common, Arlene Jett Daniels, and Michelle Jones; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, St. Mary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish Sewerage Dept., Jefferson Community Health Care Center, John Ehret High School, Helen Cox High School, and Lincoln Elementary are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 701 Huey P. Long Ave. Gretna, LA on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:00a.m.  Pastor Noily Paul, officiating  Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time.
