Irving Sly, Jr.

Irving Sly, Jr. departed this life at University Medical Center on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 37. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Irving was employed with Jefferson Parish School System as a custodian.

Beloved husband of Cierra “Shorty” Carter. Devoted father of Jaco’Bee Campbell, Irving Brown, and the late Cody Campbell. Son of Lillian B. Sly (Orlando) Knapper, and the late Irving Sly, Sr. Grandson of the late Ike and Lillian Barnes, Hilda and James, Sly, Sr. Brother of James and Ronald (Kizzy) Barnes, Alicia (Willie) Henderson, Rhonda Barnes, Dedria Sly, Thyra (Joseph) Pennino, and Shawand West. Uncle of the late Toinisha Bright. Nephew of Lawrence (Gwendolyn) Sly, Sr., Josephine Honor, Jeannetta Sly Felix, Lisa Logan, and the late Issac, Shelton, and Major Barnes, James Sly, III, Raynell George, Irma Cook, Irma McGree, and Sandra George. Great nephew of Dorothy Champagne. Son in law of Cynthia “Momma D” Carter, and the late William Carter, Sr. Brother in law of Keishan (Thomas) Nelson, and William “Lil Will” Carter, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of True Fellowship Christian Center and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Services True Fellowship Christian Center 1101 Franklin Ave. Gretna, LA on Saturday, February 2, 2019 for 10:00a.m.

Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
